Minimum Qualifications Master's degree in a related field from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama and five years of related professional experience. Preferred Qualifications Job Description Summary The University of South Alabama's College of Education and Professional Studies is seeking to hire a Director, Office of Experiential Learning in Teacher Education. Interested candidates should apply to be considered.
Essential Functions These are the job duties required of the position. Essential Functions Develops and maintains robust systems (e.g. Google Forms databases, Tevera, and Banner) to track field placements, compliance, and student progress.
Maintains and regularly update various handbooks, including the Office of Field Experiences Handbook (for CAEP), Cooperating Teacher Handbook, Student Intern Handbook, and University Supervisor Handbook.
Serves as a key member of leadership and assessment bodies, including the CAEP Leadership Team, CAEP Crusaders, and the Assessment Committee.
Serves on the CEPS Dispositions Committee alongside the Chair and Program Coordinator or representative.
Secures and manages 200-300 field placements per semester, ensuring candidates meet all prerequisites, background checks, and liability insurance requirements.
Builds and maintains high-level relationships with school districts, principals, and classroom teachers.
Manages a repository of "outstanding" Clinical Teacher Educators (CTE).
Builds and maintains high-level relationships with adjunct faculty who serves as university supervisors.
Works with Student Services to coordinate the Teacher Candidate Interview Process.
Conducts mandatory in-person training every semester for adjunct supervisors, covering program changes, updates, and ALSDE requirements, University Supervisors, students in field experiences and student interns, and edTPA preparation and requirements.
Coordinates student preparation experiences and state testing requirements including Praxis and edTPA.
Monitors student dispositions and ensures all field data is collected for accreditation and certification.
Acts a the FTA/Teacher Cadet Liaison/Coordinator, partnering with area teacher cadet programs and school systems for recruitment.
Regular and prompt attendance.
Ability to work schedule as defined and additional hours as required.
Related duties as required.
