Who We Are Looking For:

Star Autism Academy is seeking a part-time Physical Education Teacher who is responsible for developing and delivering engaging, developmentally appropriate physical education instruction for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This role focuses on promoting physical health, motor development, social skills, and emotional regulation in a supportive, structured, and inclusive environment. The ideal candidate is patient, energetic, and experienced in adapting physical activities to meet diverse learning needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan and implement structured, adaptive physical education lessons aligned with students' IEP goals Modify activities to meet varying ability levels, sensory needs, and physical capabilities Promote gross motor development, coordination, balance, and overall physical fitness Support social interaction, teamwork, and communication skills through movement-based activities Use positive behavior supports and trauma-informed practices during instruction Collaborate with special education teachers, therapists, and support staff to ensure consistency and student success Maintain a safe, organized, and inclusive learning environment Monitor student progress and provide feedback to the educational team as needed Follow school policies, safety procedures, and state regulations

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Adaptive Physical Education, Kinesiology, or related field (required) Experience working with students with Autism or special needs (preferred) Knowledge of adaptive PE strategies and inclusive practices Ability to manage small groups and provide individual instruction Strong communication and collaboration skills CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) Valid fingerprint clearance/background check (as required by state law) •If you are a passionate teacher who believes in teamwork, accountability, and educational excellence, we invite you to apply and make a lasting impact at STAR Autism Academy.
