Job Description

Project Genesis seeks several Special Education / Accessible Education Teachers / Mentors to provide individualized educational instruction and support to students with disabilities. Project Genesis is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering individuals with disabilities to lead independent and fulfilling lives. As a Learning Specialist, Accessible Education Mentor with Project Genesis, you will earn $19 hour (or more depending on your level of completed education) and provide academic and vocational support that makes a difference in the lives of those students you are helping. To qualify as a Student Success Coach / Special Education Mentor, you must have a minimum of a high school diploma or the equivalent, a reliable vehicle to transport a student, a valid driver's license, and proof of active auto insurance and vehicle registration. The ability to speak both English and Spanish is a plus. In addition, you must have: At least 1 year of experience in human services or education. Special education experience is preferred. An understanding of the Individual with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and related issues. A clean driving record for at least 3 years with the ability to obtain a Public Passenger Endorsement "A" from the DMV upon hire. In your role as a Learning Mentor with our Special Education Support Services Program, you will work one-on-one with teens transitioning from high school to their adult lives. Some of your responsibilities as a team member that assesses and supports them will include using direct instruction and real-world activities to aid student progress. You will also apply behavior management strategies and guide students in hygiene, life, and job skills.
You will also:
