Job Description:
The Community Education office is looking for qualified instructors to lead professional development and continuing education courses designed to help individuals advance their careers, boost their earning potential, or meet certification requirements . These programs serve working professionals who are seeking promotions, skill upgrades, or required PD hours. We are committed to expanding opportunities that support career advancement and welcome instructors with real-world experience and a desire to help learners achieve their professional goals. Adjunct faculty will : D evelop and teach in the assigned subject(s) and level(s) in new or existing programs. F ulfill administrative requirements, meet established deadline s and complete required training. S tay cu rrent in c ompliance training, including compliance under Title IX "Responsible Employee" and, if applicable, Clery Act Campus Security Authority as a condition of employment. A gree to and follow appropriate College and department policies and procedures. Schedule varies. Days, evenings and Saturday hours are possible. Possible class locations include CLC Grayslake Campus, Southlake Campus (Vernon Hills) , Lakeshore Campus (Waukegan), Braeloch Facility, CLC Advanced Technology Center (Gurnee) or a CLC extension site located in communities across Lake County . D elivery modes include in-person, virtual live via Zoom, asynchronous, or a hybrid of the aforementioned. In-person is most common. Required Qualifications Clear background check, along with substanti ated subject-matter expertise , effective communication skills, and a commitment to inclusive, learner-centered instruction. D o cumented record of successfully support ing learners in understanding and mastering new ideas and skills. Competency and/or commitment to learn and use technologies commonly used in instruction at
CLC:
Mi crosoft Outlook for all email communications , additional Microsoft applications, c ommon classroom projection technology, Canvas Learning Management System , enrollment software, etc. Ability to work effectively and constructively with persons of diverse cultures, gender identities, language groups, and abilities; demonstrate sensitivity to and ability to work with the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. D esired Qualifications T wo ( 2 ) years of successful, relevant teaching experience. An appropriate credential or demonstrated mastery in the subject area(s) you are applying to teach, such as a degree from an accredited institution or a relevant industry certification or license.
Hiring Range:
$50.00-70.00 /hour This posting will be used to obtain a pool of qualified candidates. As teaching needs arise, applications will be reviewed for possible interviews. The number of adjunct faculty hired varies from semester to semester, depending upon the needs of the department. Adjunct faculty hires and assignments are coordinated by the department chairs. The Faculty Success Framework illustrates the fundamental elements of a faculty member's career at CLC. Its purpose is to support a culture of continual faculty development and to provide full but flexible paths for faculty to both consistently contribute to student success efforts and cultivate professional fulfillment. Our Guiding Principles for Teaching and Learning Excellence (CLC CARES) outline the qualities we expect CLC faculty will exemplify in their professional and pedagogical engagement with students.
