: To prepare high school students for careers and/or post-secondary education opportunities in carpentry and general construction, including pathways within the broader construction trades.REPORTS TO

: These are pre-employment knowledge, abilities and skills that apply to the Essential Job Functions. At the time of application, the candidate must have: Knowledge of federal, state, and local health codes and regulations, including food safety, sanitation, and commercial kitchen standards. Knowledge of the principles, practices, techniques, and methods used in culinary arts, including food preparation, cooking methods, baking and pastry, menu planning, and kitchen operations. Demonstrated skill in the safe and effective use of commercial kitchen equipment and tools such as knives, ovens, stovetops, mixers, slicers, and other food preparation equipment. Ability to interpret and apply recipes, production schedules, and kitchen procedures, including use of basic culinary math to calculate measurements, conversions, yields, food cost, and portioning. Knowledge of food products including meats, poultry, seafood, dairy, grains, fruits, vegetables, herbs, spices, and prepared goods, as well as their appropriate handling, storage, and applications. Demonstrated understanding of commercial kitchen operations, including inventory control, ordering, food safety systems (e.g., HACCP), and front-of-house and back-of-house coordination sufficient to support instruction in culinary program applications. Demonstrated ability in written and oral communication. Demonstrated ability to relate effectively to students, teachers, staff, central office personnel, and community members. Understanding of and ability to maintain rapport with persons from diverse cultural, ethnic, and racial groups. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as Calvert County Public Schools may find appropriate and acceptable. Demonstrated success in accomplishing tasks akin to those responsibilities listed below.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
: Implement and maintain an American Culinary Federation (ACF- aligned culinary arts program, ensuring curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices meet ACF standards and competencies, including preparation for ACF-recognized certifications and adherence to industry and ACF-level expectations for professionalism, safety, and culinary skill development.
OTHER DUTIES
: Duties listed are not intended to be all inclusive nor limit duties that might reasonably be assigned. Performs related work as required or assigned by the Career and Technology Academy Principal. This position includes 35 hours of required professional development to occur prior to the start of the school year, which will be compensated in accordance with requirements of the negotiated agreement for workshop pay. These hours are above and beyond hours required for traditional new teachers.PHYSICAL DEMANDS
: Position requires significant periods of standing, walking, bending, and lifting. Duties are performed in a classroom and laboratory/shop environment that is a designated and certified commercial kitchen. May include the operation of tools and equipment, lifting and carrying materials of up to 30lbs, and performing duties related to regular upkeep (cleanliness and sanitation) of a commercial kitchen environment such as cleaning of kitchen equipment and areas as would be required as part of regular health department codes and expectations.FLSA STATUS
: ExemptTERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
: Ten (10) month position and salary commensurate with qualifications and experience applied to the current Calvert County Public Schools' salary schedule for Career & Technical Education (CTE) teachers at the Career & Technology Academy. All employees are encouraged to have automatic payroll deposit.EFFECTIVE DATE OF POSITION
: Immediate VacancyEVALUATION
: Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with the policy on evaluation established by the Calvert County Public Schools.APPLICATION PROCEDURE
