Job Description

Summer school teachers must be properly certified in the appropriate content area. Teachers in the summer school program will earn:
Teacher, Nurse, Librarian, and Counselor:
$6,120 stipend which includes all pay for teaching, planning, training, setting up rooms, and Open Houses. Summer School sessions for grades 9-12 will begin as follows: Monday through Thursday for 14 days. Wednesday, June 3rd

Summer School Principal and/or Building Administrator Position Summary The Hazelwood School District is seeking a knowledgeable, energetic, and student-centered educator to serve as a Culinary Arts Teacher for the High School Summer School Program. The successful candidate will provide engaging, hands-on instruction in culinary arts and food preparation while fostering a safe and positive learning environment for students. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Plan and deliver engaging culinary arts instruction aligned with district curriculum and program expectations. Teach foundational cooking techniques, food safety, sanitation, kitchen operations, and nutrition concepts. Supervise students during food preparation, cooking labs, and classroom activities. Maintain a safe, clean, and organized kitchen/classroom environment in accordance with health and safety regulations. Monitor and manage inventory, equipment, and supplies used during the program. Establish and maintain appropriate classroom management and student behavior expectations. Communicate effectively with students, administrators, staff, and parents as needed. Maintain accurate attendance and other required summer school documentation. Participate in required summer school meetings, trainings, and professional expectations. Perform other duties as assigned by the building administrator or Summer School administration. Supervisory Responsibilities Supervise students participating in culinary labs and classroom activities. Ensure proper use of kitchen equipment, appliances, and food preparation tools. Monitor student adherence to safety and sanitation procedures at all times. Qualifications Valid Missouri Teaching Certificate appropriate for Secondary Education and/or Career and Technical Education (CTE). Culinary Arts certification ( MO certification required: Family Consumer Science B-12) Experience teaching high school students preferred. Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and commercial kitchen procedures. Strong classroom management, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with staff and administration. Physical Demands Ability to stand for extended periods of time. Ability to lift and carry classroom or kitchen materials and supplies. Ability to safely operate standard kitchen equipment and tools. Working Conditions Work is performed in a classroom and culinary lab environment.
