Job Description

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. Make a lasting difference in the lives of students with visual impairments by providing specialized instruction and support in a dynamic educational environment. This contract opportunity is ideal for educators passionate about fostering independence, academic achievement, and inclusion for children and youth with visual disabilities. You'll work onsite, providing essential services to approximately 20-23 students with diverse needs, collaborating with teams to help each learner reach their full potential.
Qualifications and Experience:
Active North Carolina Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) license/certification required Experience teaching students with visual impairments across a range of ages and abilities Strong understanding of assistive technology and adapted instructional materials Excellent communication and collaboration skills to partner with staff, families, and related service teams Commitment to creating accessible, individualized educational plans
What You'll Do:
Deliver direct instruction to students with visual impairments in classrooms and specialized settings Conduct assessments and develop tailored learning strategies based on individual student needs Modify curriculum materials and recommend assistive technologies to maximize accessibility Advocate for inclusion and consult with general education teachers on accommodations and modifications Track progress, collect data, and participate in IEP meetings with multi-disciplinary teams
