- North Haverhill, New Hampshire 2026-2027 School Year Haverhill Cooperative Middle School is seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and highly engaging Outdoor Education Teacher to develop and lead an innovative outdoor learning program for students in grades 5-8 beginning in the 2026-2027 school year.
Located on a beautiful campus in northern New Hampshire, our middle school serves approximately 175 students and offers a unique opportunity for students to connect learning with the natural environment. We are seeking an educator who is passionate about experiential learning, environmental stewardship, and helping students build confidence, resilience, teamwork, and leadership skills through outdoor experiences. This position offers the exciting opportunity to help create and shape a new outdoor education program that becomes an integral part of our school culture and student experience.
Position Responsibilities:
- Design and implement an engaging outdoor education curriculum for grades 5-8
- Develop hands-on learning opportunities connected to:
- Environmental science
- Outdoor survival and safety skills
- Team-building and leadership
- Hiking and outdoor recreation
- Nature-based learning
- Conservation and stewardship
- Agriculture and gardening
- Physical wellness and healthy lifestyles
- Utilize the school campus and surrounding northern New Hampshire environment as an extension of the classroom
- Create meaningful experiential and project-based learning opportunities
- Foster student confidence, independence, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
- Build strong, positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate outdoor learning across content areas
- Maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
- Serve as a positive and active member of the school community
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's Degree
- Passion for experiential learning and relationship-building
- Ability to safely supervise and lead students in outdoor settings
