TITLE:
BUSINESS EDUCATION TEACHER
QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid New Jersey Instructional Certification for Business Teacher (Comprehensive Business 1300)
Demonstrated knowledge of effective teaching methods and appropriate classroom activities.
Ability to maintain a positive learning environment.
Strong skills in differentiated instruction and data-driven teaching.
Clear knowledge of New Jersey Learning Standards.
Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
Pass mandatory pre-employment physical, including drug screening in accordance with
N.J.A.C.6
32-4A.4.
Pass mandatory criminal history screening in accordance with b18:6-7.1.
Consistent attendance as defined by the New Jersey Department of Education.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and general technology skills and applications.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate and acceptable.

JOB GOALS
To develop in each student an understanding of the multi-disciplinary business curriculum aligned with the NJ Student Learning Standards (NJSLS) for Career Readiness, Life Literacies, and Key Skills, including financial literacy, business law, economics and meaningful and ethical technology integration, and digital citizenship; to develop an understanding of our American business system and its place in the nation's economy; to provide knowledge needed for intelligent consumption of business services; to develop practical business skills for personal use or for use in business occupations; to encourage students to develop work and personal habits essential for business success.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Teaches knowledge and skills in one or more of the following subjects to secondary students: accounting, banking, insurance, business communications, computer applications, business law, business management, business mathematics, business organization, economics and finance, entrepreneurship, business career exploration, marketing, office administration and systems technology, international business, and keyboarding.
Utilizes the course of study adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriate learning activities.
Instructs pupils in basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
Develops lesson plans and organizes daily classes so that demonstration, instruction, and practice can be completed within the allotted time.
Demonstrates skills such as shorthand and use of office machines and techniques such as those used in merchandising, where appropriate and available.
Instructs pupils in the importance to employers of accuracy, neatness, efficiency, resourcefulness, and good work habits.
Maintains knowledge of the business community job entry requirements and current business methods and equipment through resources made available.
Evaluates, selects, and requisitions books, instructional aids, equipment, and instructional supplies, and maintains required inventory records.
Develops and maintains a classroom environment conducive to effective learning.
Provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
Encourages students to maintain standards of classroom behavior and self-discipline appropriate to learning.
Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet the needs of all students.
Implements by instruction and action the district's instructional goals and objectives established and approved by both local and State Boards of Education in accordance with State educational laws to ensure optimum student progress.
Takes necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Evaluates student progress regularly during each marking period and maintains accurate records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior in compliance with school and district policy needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom and building.
17. Attends and participates in faculty meetings and fulfills required duties.
18. Cooperates in the development of a working relationship with all members of the faculty and other members of the school community. 19. Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to discuss the pupil's progress and interpret the school program.
20. Participates in the construction and development of curriculum guides appropriate to one's academic discipline.
21. Maintains a level of professional competence appropriate to the specific area of certification, assignment, and matters of general educational importance.
22. Prepares and maintains clear lesson plans to provide continuity of instruction.
23. Performs other related professional duties as required.
EVALUATION
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
