Job Description
The
ONC BOCES
New Visions in Education program provides highly motivated high school seniors with an immersive, college-level experience designed to explore careers in teaching, learning, and student support services. Students earn 18 transferable college credits through SUNY Oneonta and SUNY Albany while engaging in rigorous academic study, professional training, and meaningful fieldwork. Students participate in a minimum of 6 hours of supervised fieldwork per week, gaining hands-on experience in a variety of educational and human-service settings, including elementary and secondary classrooms, therapy services, counseling offices, and special area programs. The curriculum emphasizes professional ethics, child development, classroom management, diversity in education, and New York State Learning Standards. Students will also complete DASA training and mandated reporter training. Those who turn 18 during the program may complete all requirements to apply with New York State Education Department to become an Initial Teaching Assistant, providing an immediate pathway to employment.Reports to:

- Shakespeare Deliver instruction supporting student understanding of professional ethics, classroom management, NYS Learning Standards, teacher certification pathways, working with students with disabilities, diversity/equity/inclusion, and current issues in education.

Starting Base Salary:
$48,890 Plus $525 per year of experience Plus $45 per graduate credit Plus $1,100 per master's degree NYS retirement, EAP, continuing education assistance, and exceptional insurance, including retiree health insurance, are available.
