Job Description:
Under the supervision of the Managing Director of the Office of Teacher Preparation and Certification, the role of the University Field Supervisor (FS) is vital in the development of a high-quality student/supervised teaching program. The FS serves as liaison between Manhattanville University and placement schools, and will observe, evaluate and confer with each student/supervised teacher assigned (and cooperating teacher, if applicable).
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Highly skilled professional background in education; Supervision experience of classroom teaching a plus. Guiding the student/supervised teacher in the process necessary to submit their Teacher Candidate Assessment Portfolios (TCAP). Making at least three (3) supervisory s to each assigned student/supervised teacher. The number of site s is a function of the educational needs of the student teacher; three (3) s should be seen as a minimum, not as a norm. Communication with Seminar Professors who conduct weekly integrating seminars which are a vital part of the Manhattanville University Education Program. These weekly seminars provide theory, teaching strategies, background curriculum, materials, resources, self-reflection and self-analysis to the student/supervised teacher. They are designed to help student/supervised teachers approach their field experiences with better understanding of educational issues, methods and curriculum, and to provide assistance to the student/supervised teacher to resolve problems and answer questions. Collecting, reviewing, reflecting and discussing all assessment information with each student/supervised teacher and arriving at a final report that will be placed in the student/supervised teacher's file located in the School of Education.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Excellent interpersonal, time management, organizational, written and verbal communication skills. Strong supervisory and leadership skills. Knowledge with Microsoft Office Suite and online collaboration platforms.
Qualifications:
Education:
Master's degree in education Certification to teach elementary, secondary or special education
Experience:
A minimum of 5 years of successful classroom teaching. At least 3 years supervisory experience preferred Experience teaching diverse populations of children or youth Availability during the school day hours
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Salary:
$500 per student observed plus mileage
Hours Expectation:
Varies upon number of students assigned Part-time, 29 hours or less per week
Housing:
Housing is not provided.
