Monday-Friday; 8:00A-2:45P The Power Sports Technology Instructor is responsible for teaching methods of servicing power equipment and engines such as those found in lawn and garden equipment, motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles, boats, snowmobiles, and jet skis using theory along with hands-on skills to students enrolled in the Career and Technical Education program. The instructor will prepare students for employment in the Power Sports Technology field and for industry certification exams. Develop and deliver comprehensive instruction on two-stroke and four-stroke cycle engine theory, cooling, lubrication, and electrical systems for vehicles like ATVs, motorcycles, and snowmobiles; Establish and enforce a rigorous CTE safety program, ensuring students master the safe use of hand tools, power equipment, and stationary machinery in a "live" shop environment; Design and implement a sequenced curriculum that aligns with NYSED standards, integrating Career and Financial Management (CFM) and core academic skills like technical math and English; Prepare students to earn national and state industry certifications and lead them through the required EETC technical assessments; Evaluate and grade students' class work, labs, quizzes, exams, and practical skills exams; Track student progress and adapt teaching methods to meet varying abilities and learning styles; Maintain accurate administrative records for attendance, grades, certification exam results, and other data; Stay current with teaching methodologies and industry trends in the Industrial Performance and Machining field and collaborate with local businesses for internship and job placement opportunities; Participate in professional development activities to stay current in the field; Maintain positive relationships with colleagues, parents, advisory boards, and industry partners in the community; Implement BOCES policies, procedures and State Education Department mandates; Other duties as assigned. Regional Certification Officer. ? HighSchool Diploma or equivalent; ? NYS CTE Certification in Motorcycle, Marine and Outdoor Power Equipment - This title requires the applicant to have in-depth, comprehensive and appropriate work experience in the diagnosis and repair of motorized recreational equipment. Experience may include, but is not limited to, work with RVs, ATVs, and motorcycles; power marine equipment, such as inboard or outboard motor boats or personal watercraft; and two cycle/four cycle grounds-keeping equipment, such as chainsaws, weed eaters, and lawn edgers; OR ? Eligible for the required CTE certification based on relevant industry experience (4 years minimum or 2 years minimum with related degree) ? Diverse candidates are encouraged to apply.
