Southern Sector Milford, MA Apply Duties :
- This is not a remote work position. Travel will be expected to all Southern Sector facilities.
- Teach classes to incarcerated individuals as assigned by direct supervisor using approved standards-based curriculum through both synchronous and asynchronous virtual programming.
- Develop standards-based curriculum and use that to create virtual classes using the APDS Learning Management System.
- Possess the skills to operate equipment used in the production of virtual education classes: including but not limited to, cameras, audio, lighting, computers, editing and production software, etc.
- May need to flex her/his work schedule in order to accommodate conference times with students beyond the typical school day.
- Demonstrate a comprehensive and current knowledge of DOC policies and procedures.
- Identify and recruit potential class participants to maintain maximum program capacity by utilizing educational program waitlists.
- Complete daily attendance to maintain student accountability.
- Update incarcerated individual's case plan as required by Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).
- Complete Earned Good Time (EGT) performance ratings for students in IMS no later than the last day of the awarding month.
- Complete required 40 hours of training within the fiscal year and maintain a record of attendance.
- Maintain current Massachusetts Teaching Licensure and provide appropriate documentation to direct supervisor.
- Update SSTA weekly to ensure that payroll is processed accurately.
- Administer standardized testing to incarcerated individuals including but not limited to
HSE, HSE
qualifying exams as needed.- Determine Incarcerated Individuals eligibility for placement in educational programming.
- Maintain student education files.
- Perform periodic purges, process incoming and outgoing files, and update incarcerated individual education documentation as needed.
- Collaborate with other professionals, both inside and outside of the Division of Training and Education, to contribute and enhance the strategic goals of the Division.
- Interact with staff/incarcerated individuals in a professional manner, utilizing appropriate boundaries.
- Report and document any and all security related concerns to your supervisor/designee prior to the end of your shift.
- Complete duties as assigned that support the Division's mission.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Applicants must have at least a Bachelor's Degree.

The Massachusetts Department of Correction shall not hire anyone who may have direct contact with incarcerated individuals, who has engaged in sexual abuse in a prison or other institution as defined in 42 U.S.C. 1997; or has been convicted of engaging or attempting to engage in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable to consent or refuse, or has been civilly or administratively adjudicated to have engaged in the activity described in the above paragraph. The agency shall consider any incidents of sexual harassment in determining whether to hire anyone who may have contact with incarcerated individuals or residents.
