Job Description Job Summary The Elementary Education program in the Clemmer College of Education and Human Development at East Tennessee State University seeks a full-time Lecturer position beginning August 2026 to teach in-person, online, and/or hybrid courses on the Johnson City campus and at the ETSU-Sevierville campus in the undergraduate elementary education program. The position is renewable term appointment focused primarily on teaching and service contingent upon funding and is eligible for promotion following department promotion guidelines. Teaching assignments may include seminar courses, content/methodology courses, planning and assessment courses, classroom management courses, or other courses as assigned by the department chair. In addition to teaching, candidates are expected to engage in service to the department, college, university, and profession. The typical annual workload is 80% teaching and 20% service. The successful applicant may also supervise teacher candidates in the field. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of best practice initiatives in instruction and pedagogy for elementary classrooms Demonstrated skill in addressing the needs of diverse groups of learners Ability to engage students in opportunities to apply theory to practice Proficiency in using educational technology Required Qualifications Master's degree or higher in elementary education, early childhood education, Curriculum and Instruction, or related field Documented work in elementary (K-5) grades as a teacher of record Preferred Qualifications Doctorate degree in elementary education, early childhood education, Curriculum and Instruction, or related field Experience teaching at the college/university level (related part-time and graduate assistant experience may be considered) Experience with teacher preparation, including field supervision and/or mentoring Documented work in elementary (K-5) grades as a teacher of record within the last 5 years Experience working with of student populations various backgrounds, including English Language Learner Compensation & Benefits Compensation commensurate on education and experience.
