DCS Culinary Arts Instructor

Culinary Arts Instructor/Nutrition Educator Wilder Youth Development Center in Somerville, TN. Applicants must be 21 years of age and pass a drug test. Pay:

$23 per hour

Hours:

10-15 hours per week. Schedule is flexible and will be determined by the program and supervisors needs.

Key Job Duties and Responsibilities Culinary Training & Education:

Instruct youth in professional cooking techniques, baking, and food preparation in accordance with institutional sanitation standards.

Security & Safety:

Monitor youth to ensure safety in the kitchen, secure tools, and sharp objects, and adhere to facility security protocols.

Inventory Management:

Receive, label, store, and rotate food/supplies to minimize waste and manage inventory levels.

Mentorship:

Teach soft skills, work ethic, and life skills to prepare juveniles for future employment in the hospitality industry.

Qualifications and Requirements Experience:

Previous experience in food service, commercial kitchens, or institutional food service is required.

Certification:

ServSafe® certification or ability to obtain one to teach food safety standards.

Skills:

Proficiency in kitchen equipment operation and inventory management.

Clearance:

Ability to pass a background check required for working in a secure, high-security, or correctional environment
