Description/Notes:
Primary Purpose:
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the Culinary Arts area to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop subject-matterpetencies and skills leading to post-secondary education or entry-level back-of-the-house or front-of-the-house employment.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Culinary Arts, Baking/Pastry, Hospitality Management or equivalent from an accredited school.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of the Family and Consumer Sciences content, including professional culinary knowledge, skill and mastery of cooking/baking techniques, knowledge of volume food preparation; recipe and menu development; recipe conversions, cost control, and inventory management General knowledge of curriculum and instruction Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior Ability to oversee student field experiences Strong organizational,munication, and interpersonal skills
Experience:
Three (3) years of full-time, verifiable supervisory experience in the field
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Hospitality Management, Culinary Arts or related field Current American Culinary Federation Certification (For CHEF and PSTR courses) Experience teaching at the secondary or college level Experience teaching college online courses and/or documented successful training in a college online learning management system (e.g. Blackboard, Canvas)
