Description:
 Are you passionate about the future of STEM? Edmonds College is seeking subject matter experts to inspire the next generation of tech professionals and hobbyists alike. In partnership with Black Rocket Productions (BR) and our Continuing Education (CE) department, we are looking for enthusiastic Instructors to teach youth-based camps (topics including Roblox, Minecraft, Coding) for the general community. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Prepare adequately by reviewing and internalizing the prepared curricula for the courses to be taught. Prepare for and deliver BR curriculum to groups of up to 22 campers with an additional experienced instructor. Familiarize oneself with the necessary software in order to educate and utilize it in the classroom. Implement the curriculum as written, adapting it as needed to improve the camper experience or accommodate individual campers. Provide leadership, energy and camp spirit, constantly assessing group dynamics and the needs of individual campers. Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in and outside the classroom. This is a contract presenter employment position that reports to the Director of Continuing Education. For information on applying, please see Application Procedures and Required Documents, below. Required Qualifications:
21 years of age or older preferred, 18 years of age required College graduates with a degree in education, digital arts, computer science, information technology or related fields and/or significant relevant work experience are ideal. College seniors with experience with groups of kids are also encouraged to apply. Experience teaching kids is not required, but the ideal candidate will have some experience with kids in a formal or informal setting (classroom, volunteering, childcare, tutoring, coaching, etc.) Ability to facilitate a class of up to 22 kids with a co-teacher in a technology setting
Desired Qualifications:
Experience working with children is preferred, but not required Teaching or classroom management experience is preferred, but not required Fine Arts or Technology-based field of study preferred, but not required
Physical Work Environment:
Work is typically performed in a classroom setting if the course is in person. Your work environment is directly tied to the nature of your class.
Work Schedule:
9:00 am until 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm (Monday-Friday) July 13th through July 31st, and August 3rd through August 21st (6 weeks)
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
You must document your citizenship or employment authorization within three days of hire. Criminal background check. Prior to a new hire, a background check, including criminal history will be conducted. Information from the background check will not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant's suitability and competence to perform in the position.
