Job Description
Lemberg Children's Center is a high-quality early childhood program serving infants, toddlers, and preschoolers in a collaborative, reflective child development lab school environment . Our program values inquiry-based learning, strong family partnerships, and a commitment to continuous improvement, including work toward renewal of national accreditation. We have on staff consultants for language development, sensory processing development and behavioral positive psychology. Position Overview We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Educational Director to lead the pedagogical vision of our program. This role is ideal for a reflective leader with deep knowledge of child development and experience directing a child development lab school or similar high-quality setting . Experience in a lab school or demonstration program connected to higher education or research Commitment to reflective supervision, inquiry, and continuous improvement Ability to build a collaborative, respectful, and mission-driven professional culture The Educational Director partners closely with the Executive Director and Administrative Team to support teaching staff, guide curriculum, and ensure excellence across all classrooms. Qualifications Master's degree in early childhood education, Child Development, or a closely related field (required) Director experience in a child development lab school or comparable high-quality early education setting (required) Strong knowledge of child development, developmentally appropriate practice, and inquiry-based or emergent curriculum Experience supervising and mentoring teaching staff Several years experience as a Lead Teacher and team teaching with young children Familiarity with Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) licensing regulations Hands-on classroom experience working directly with students from diverse backgrounds and with diverse educational needs Experience working collaboratively with families and community partners Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills Duties Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of curriculum tailored for early childhood learners, ensuring alignment with educational standards and best practices. Oversee daily program operations, including supervising teaching staff, managing classroom activities, and ensuring a safe, engaging environment for children. Cultivate relationships with families, community partners, and college stakeholders through regular communication. Supervise training, performance evaluations, and professional development initiatives to foster a motivated team committed to excellence in early childhood education. Experience Proven experience in education administration within early childhood programs or similar settings. Demonstrated success in curriculum development tailored for young children's developmental stages. Extensive management experience including supervising teachers and staff while fostering a collaborative team environment. Hands-on classroom experience working directly with students from diverse backgrounds. Excellent leadership skills with the ability to inspire teams and communicate effectively through public speaking engagements.
