Job Description
Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. Become a vital support for a student's educational experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in a dynamic school setting. This full-time contract role focuses on providing dedicated 1:1 Sign Language Interpretation for a 16-year-old female student in a self-contained classroom. Your work will create opportunities for meaningful participation and academic achievement from August 6, 2026, through May 25, 2027.
Key Qualifications:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably in K-12 educational environments Ability to facilitate communication between students, teachers, and peers, supporting both academic and social engagement Skilled in adapting interpreting styles to a classroom setting without the use of AAC devices Experience working 1:1 with students with unique needs is highly valued Strong organizational skills and a professional, compassionate demeanor Relevant certification (such as EIPA, RID or state credentials), as requiredKey Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive sign language interpretation for a female student in a self-contained classroom setting Collaborate closely with classroom teachers and educational teams to support the student's individualized learning goals Ensure clear and accurate interpretation of classroom instruction, discussions, and social interactions Respect confidential information and comply with district and ethical standards Maintain consistent scheduling, working Monday through Friday from 8:15am to 3:45pm This is an exceptional opportunity to make a difference while advancing your skills in a supportive, structured environment.
