Qualifications and Experience:

Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, ideally in a school setting Ability to interpret for students 1:1 in academic and extracurricular environments Strong commitment to confidentiality and ethical interpreting standards Flexibility, professionalism, and reliability Knowledge of IEPs and ADA guidelines as they pertain to educational interpreting is a plus Certification recognized by your state or nationally preferred

Key Responsibilities:

Provide one-on-one interpreting services for a student throughout the school day Facilitate communication between the student, educators, peers, and staff using ASL Accurately interpret lessons, instructions, discussions, and other interactions Support student participation in classroom activities and school programs Adapt interpreting style to match student needs and learning situations Maintain accurate and confidential records as required
