Job Description
Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Step into a fulfilling opportunity supporting students as a Sign Language Interpreter in a dynamic educational setting. This full-time, onsite contract role runs from August 12, 2026, through June 4, 2027, and centers on providing essential communication access for a K-12 student at a single school site. The assignment will be tailored to your background and expertise for the best possible match. This position offers a 35-hour workweek, collaborating one-on-one with a student, ensuring continuity and a focused, supportive environment for meaningful educational progress. You'll be empowered to utilize your skills while nurturing a student's potential—and working closely with a welcoming interdisciplinary team.
Qualifications and Experience:
Active Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) certification/license in California Minimum EIPA score of 4.0 Previous K-12 interpreting experience strongly preferred Ability to work independently and adapt to diverse classroom environments Commitment to fostering inclusion and equitable access to learning for deaf/hard-of-hearing students Professional communication skills and the discretion to work one-on-one with studentsKey Responsibilities:
Provide real-time sign language interpretation to support a student's classroom participation across subjects and activities Collaborate with educators and support staff to ensure seamless communication and engagement for the student Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in student interactions and assignments Tailor interpreting approach to the student's needs, adapting as necessary for various learning situations Experience the rewards of directly impacting a student's daily learning journey in a supportive school atmosphere.
