Job Description
Position Overview:
Standard Process is committed to developing, implementing and sustaining a comprehensive safety program, supporting the safety of its employees, visitors, contractors, property and the community. We firmly believe in and are committed to ensuring that our operations are carried out in a way that supports the health and safety of everyone. Under the direction of the Safety Manager, the Safety Specialist will be responsible for continuing to grow and enhance our corporate safety culture through education, hazard identification and risk reduction.Essential Functions:
Training - Under the direction of the Safety Manager and in collaboration with others responsible for company training, this position leads all aspects of safety related training for our employees and on-site contractors and guests. This includes but is not limited to: Develops training curriculum and content within the company's Learning Management System Delivers New Employee Orientation and Onboarding training Delivers required refresher training or facilitates required training through outside subject matter experts/trainers. Delivers other supplemental training as needed in alignment with the strategic goals of the corporate safety program or facilitates training through outside subject matter experts/trainers. Conducts regular evacuation and severe weather drills on all shifts at all locations. Reports to Management the current status of training initiatives so that all departments stay on task and maintain compliance with all applicable training requirements. Incident Investigation Respond to reports of hazardous or potentially hazardous conditions, review recommendations and/or take appropriate action as necessary in coordination with the Safety Manager. Review all reported injuries and near misses in a timely manner and assist with the filing of documentation and submission of worker's compensation claims when applicable. Investigate all workplace injuries with the injured employee and their Supervisor/Manager to determine cause and make recommendations to prevent any further injuries. Maintains all pertinent records and documentation of training. Reports to Management the current status of training initiatives so that all departments stay on task and maintain compliance with all applicable training requirements. This includes educating all stakeholders on the reasons and their responsibilities for established safety rules, policies and procedures. Ensure regulatory compliance with all local, state and federal agencies (OSHA). This includes staying informed on regulatory changes and timely reporting of all required information. Ensure all outside contractors are complying with our safety and GMP rules. Conduct routine safety inspections throughout all SP facilities. Education:
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety & Environmental Health or other related degree requiredCertifications/Licenses:
Graduate Safety Practitioner (GSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferredExperience:
1-3 years of experience in Occupational Safety & Environmental Health Experience in a food manufacturing facility preferred Experience using Microsoft Office Tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and OneNote.Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge of all applicable OSHA standards for General Industry and Construction, along with NFPA and other consensus standards including employee and contractor training requirements.Skills in performing the following:
