Job Description

Electrical & Instrumentation Designer Bedminster, NJ (On-site) Overview This client is seeking a skilled Electrical & Instrumentation Designer to support the design and development of low- and medium-voltage systems for process plants. This is a hands-on role working across industrial, chemical, and gas production facilities , with a focus on delivering high-quality electrical and instrumentation designs. This position offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects involving oxygen, nitrogen, argon, and advanced gas technologies , while collaborating with a growing, highly technical team in a fast-expanding organization. Be part of a tight-knit, growing engineering team (35-40 employees, scaling quickly) Key Responsibilities Develop detailed electrical designs for low- and medium-voltage systems in process plants Produce 2D CAD drawings, including: Single line diagrams (MV switchgear, MCCs) Panelboard distribution diagrams Relay interface panels and schematics Create cable/conduit schedules, cable tray layouts, and BOMs Design grounding systems and electrical heat tracing layouts Develop instrumentation deliverables, including: Instrument location drawings I/O panel layouts, wiring, and power distribution Analyzer panel designs and tubing schematics Generate wiring diagrams, DCS panel designs, and installation details Review and integrate vendor and subcontractor designs Perform technical reviews of vendor quotations Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure integrated design solutions Interpret and apply electrical codes and standards Utilize 2D/3D tools and P&IDs to develop accurate system designs Support proposals and conceptual design efforts Manage multiple assignments while maintaining high-quality outputs Required Qualifications Minimum 5+ years of electrical design experience in industrial, chemical, or gas plant environments Strong experience with 2D CAD design (AutoCAD or BricsCAD) Expertise in: LV/MV power distribution systems Electrical schematics and panel design Cable and conduit scheduling Experience with instrumentation systems and controls in process plants Ability to read and interpret 2D & 3D P&IDs Familiarity with electrical codes and standards Strong coordination and communication skills Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Preferred Qualifications Associate or Bachelor's degree in a technical field Experience in facilities producing industrial gases (oxygen, nitrogen, argon, etc.) Exposure to advanced or high-tech applications (e.g., hydrogen systems) Experience reviewing vendor/subcontractor deliverables and RFIs Proven initiative and ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-growing environment Work Environment This is a full-time, on-site position in Bedminster, NJ, operating on a standard five-day workweek. You'll work in a professional office setting alongside a collaborative, multidisciplinary team. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Hackettstown, NJ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $55.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
