Hopedale, MAThe RoleA well‑established automation and engineering firm is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join its team in Hopedale, MA. This position is suited to an engineer with a strong electrical design background who can own control panel designs from initial concept through fabrication.

The role offers hands‑on involvement across the full project lifecycle, working closely with controls engineers, project managers, and in‑house panel fabrication teams to deliver high‑quality, code‑compliant electrical designs for industrial automation systems.

Key ResponsibilitiesDesign industrial electrical control panels from scratch, from concept through fabrication‑ready documentationProduce complete electrical drawing packages, including:

Power distribution and control schematicsPanel layouts and wiring diagramsI/O drawings and network architectureBills of Materials (BOMs) and cable schedulesSelect and size electrical components such as breakers, contactors, relays, PLC hardware, VFDs, power supplies, and instrumentationEnsure designs comply with NEC, NFPA, and UL 508A standardsCollaborate with internal panel fabrication teams to support build, testing, and troubleshootingSupport projects across industrial manufacturing, life sciences, utilities, and automation environmentsParticipate in design reviews, RFIs, and as‑built documentationRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)3+ years of hands‑on electrical design experience in an industrial or automation settingProven experience with control panel design and layoutProficiency with AutoCAD Electrical (EPLAN or similar tools a plus)Solid understanding of power distribution, MCCs, VFDs, and control wiringWorking knowledge of UL 508A and NEC requirementsNice to HaveExperience supporting

PLC/HMI/SCADA

systems (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, etc.)Exposure to regulated manufacturing or life‑science environmentsExperience working directly with panel shops or in‑house fabrication teamsField support, commissioning, or startup experience
