Job Description

Electrical Instructor American Trade School 3925 Industrial Drive St. Ann, MO 63074 Part-Time, 10-20 hours per week $40.00 - $50.00 per hour We have two part-time positions open, one for our day class and one for our evening class. Both classes meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and the right person could fill one slot or take both.
Day class:
8:30 AM - 1:00 PM Evening class: 6:00 PM - 10:30 PM Qualifications A minimum of three years of practical residential or commercial electrical field experience, with strong hands-on knowledge of electrical systems, tools, safety practices, and jobsite operations. The right candidate is comfortable and confident with the National Electrical Code (NEC) as it relates to the installation and troubleshooting of residential buildings, understands safe electrical practices, and can read blueprints. We're looking for someone who knows the installation of different types of receptacles, luminaires, appliances, and electrical equipment room by room in a residence, and who is comfortable using electrical instruments to troubleshoot residential circuitry. Proficiency in load calculations, conductor sizing, wiring methods, and installing electrical circuitry in compliance with the NEC is essential. Responsibilities Prepare for and teach Residential Electricity theory and lab classes Facilitate hands-on electrical labs implementing NEC codes Maintain shop safety, the classroom, and lab equipment Assess electrical skills and student development needs Perform skill validation and assessments through practical lab projects Deliver training using effective adult-learning and field-appropriate teaching methods Participate in available training to stay current with NEC updates Who Is a Great Fit The ideal candidate is an experienced electrical professional with a passion for developing others, strong instructional abilities, and a deep understanding of both electricity and jobsite realities. This role is a great fit for: A residential electrician who has their own business and can pick up a solid 10-20 hours a week of climate-controlled, no-ladder, minimum-physical-labor work to supplement their business. A retired or semi-retired electrician who wants to pass on the knowledge and skills to students who will become the future of the trade. A residential electrician currently working a daytime job who would be a strong fit for the evening position.
