Electrical & Instrumentation Technician (E/I Tech)
Parachute, CO Pay:
$40.00 - $45.00 per hour

4/10 work week Job Summary The E/I Technician is responsible for advanced electrical and instrumentation maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration, programming, and repair activities across critical plant systems and process equipment. This role supports plant reliability and operational performance by diagnosing electrical, instrumentation, and process control issues, maintaining DCS/PLC systems, supporting commissioning activities, and providing technical leadership and training. The ideal candidate possesses strong industrial electrical and instrumentation experience within a heavy industrial or manufacturing environment. Job Responsibilities Perform advanced troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance on electrical, instrumentation, and process control systems Diagnose and resolve issues related to critical plant equipment including kilns, dryers, centrifuges, turbines, vapor compressors, gear reducers, boiler systems, fans, screens, and lifting equipment Install, calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair instrumentation including control valves, process transmitters, conductivity meters, analyzers, and associated devices Support calibration, commissioning, leak detection, and startup activities for instrumentation systems Program, troubleshoot, and maintain DCS and PLC systems Access and interpret sequence tables, logic charts, alarms, and control system graphics for troubleshooting and modifications Build and modify control system graphics, alarms, and faceplates as required Install, troubleshoot, and repair motor controls, VFDs, MCCs, switchgear, and electrical distribution systems Program and troubleshoot variable frequency drives and related electrical control systems Perform electrical terminations and repairs for low, medium, and high-voltage systems Support predictive maintenance initiatives including vibration and lubrication analysis coordination Utilize laptops and diagnostic software to interface with and troubleshoot plant equipment Train and qualify technicians on equipment operation, lifting equipment, forklifts, and shop equipment Support supplier evaluations, service agreements, and technical recommendations as a subject matter expert Maintain compliance with safety procedures, lockout/tagout practices, and operational standards Job Requirements Extensive experience in industrial electrical and instrumentation maintenance required Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills related to industrial process equipment and control systems Experience with DCS and PLC programming and troubleshooting Advanced knowledge of instrumentation calibration, diagnostics, and installation Experience installing, programming, and troubleshooting VFDs and motor control systems Knowledge of MCCs, switchgear, electrical distribution systems, and medium/high-voltage equipment Familiarity with predictive maintenance technologies including vibration and lubrication analysis Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, control schematics, logic diagrams, and instrumentation documentation Strong leadership, communication, and technical training abilities Experience using laptop-based diagnostic and equipment communication software Strong understanding of industrial safety procedures and lockout/tagout requirements Work Experience Previous experience in heavy industrial, manufacturing, mining, cement, chemical, or process plant environments preferred Experience serving as a lead technician, trainer, or subject matter expert preferred Experience supporting commissioning, startup, and process optimization activities preferred

$40.00 - $45.00 per hour
