The Department of Corrections is currently recruiting to fill an Electrician position. This position is based out of Copper Lake/Lincoln Hills School in Irma, Wisconsin. This is a re-announcement. Position Summary This position is responsible for performing work assignments as an Electrician at Copper Lake/Lincoln Hills School. This skilled Trades position is entrusted with a high level of responsibility. Responsibilities include inspection, installation, analysis, preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and repair of all facility electrical devices, appliances, equipment and system components (i.e. wiring, lighting, switches, receptacles, motors, pumps, switchgear, transfer switches, transformers, power distribution systems and components, etc.) throughout the institution complex and property. This position will report and make recommendations on lighting and power controls, installations, modifications, etc., to further enhance the institution energy conservation efforts. This position will assist other maintenance department personnel in routine tasks when necessary. This position will occasionally provide direction, training, instruction, supervision, and coordinate the work of Facilities Maintenance personnel, youth workers, or Limited Term Employees regarding maintenance tasks, repair work assignments, and/or projects related to electrical systems and equipment. Salary Information This position is in pay schedule and range 04-00 with a starting pay of $46.50/hour, $47.26/hour, or $48.02/hour, depending on the amount of annual leave time the hired candidate selects. Pay will be set in accordance with the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code in effect at the time of hire. Job Details Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application. The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment. The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting. This position is not eligible for remote work and will work on site. Must have the ability to work up to 16 hours per day and more than 40 hours per week on any shift based on daily operational needs. This may include weekends, holidays, and on-call hours. This position has physical requirements related to performing the job duties that involve being able to move and lift freely to perform necessary inspections and repairs, including climbing ladders and stairs. This position will sometimes work within a wide range of temperatures (extreme hot and cold), in dusty, dirty, or confined areas or areas that may be quite noisy. This position will also work within close physical proximity to youth and other staff members. Qualifications
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must possess a valid Master Electrician license from the State of Wisconsin, Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS). This license must remain active during employment. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license
