Immediately Job Description The Lone Tree Community School District is seeking an Elementary 4th Grade Teacher for the 2026-27 school year. All applicants are encouraged to apply. Lone Tree School has a tremendously supportive community and staff and believes in Every Student, Every Day. Staff and student schedules allow time for both staff and students to get to know each other. Staff collaboration is a priority in order to insure student needs are being met each day. Staff to student ratio is small, allowing for more individualized attention each day. The Lone Tree Community School District is located along the Hwy 218 corridor with access to Iowa City in approximately 15 minutes. Lone Tree has a small-town feel with ready access to the amenities of Iowa City, Kirkwood Community College, and the University of Iowa. Lone Tree Community School District is proud to serves over 400 students.Essential Responsibilities:
Teach reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, and health to students in a classroom as needed, using the course of study adopted by the Board of Education, and other appropriate learning experiences. Instruct students in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district. Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide differentiated and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student. Translate lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction. Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom, on the playground, and within the facility. Evaluate students' academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare reports. Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss student's progress. Identify student needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems. Create a positive and appropriate classroom environment that is conducive to learning. Make referrals for assistance where necessary. Continually improve professional competence through professional development provided by the district and individual professional growth activities. Maintain a professional rapport with students, staff, parents and the community. (FERPA Guidelines) Select and requisition books, materials and instructional aids; maintain required inventory Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day. Administer group-standardized assessments in accordance with district testing program. Participate in curriculum development programs as required. Participate in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities. Prepare course objectives and outline for course of study following curriculum guidelines or requirements of state and school. Prepare, administer, and correct assessments, and record results. Assign lessons, correct papers, and hear oral presentations. Counsel students when adjustment and academic problems arise. Discuss students' academic and behavioral attitudes and achievements with parents. Provide constructive feedback to parents, guardians, and administration. Keep attendance and grade records as required by school. Coordinate class field trips. Collaborates effectively with others to improve student achievement and teaching practices. Implement IEP and 504 plans. Maintains a professional appearance.
