Elementary Religion Teacher

St. Peter Catholic School in Forest Lake, MN is hiring an Elementary Religion Teacher . The ideal candidate will provide instruction of the religion curriculum to kindergarten - 6 th Grade students while being a joyful witness to the beauty and truth of the Catholic faith.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES

Teach elementary school religion in accordance with the school's curriculum and so as to be in total alignment with the Magisterium of the Roman Catholic Church. Prepare daily lesson plans and structure curriculum. Instruct and assess students using a variety of methods and tools. Have an in-depth understanding of the Sacraments, especially Reconciliation and the Eucharist. Exhibit competence in age appropriate and developmentally appropriate instructional methods and knowledge of subject matter. Create a classroom environment that fosters growth and development in the Catholic faith. Maintain a positive learning environment. Demonstrate effective, appropriate classroom management skills. Have the willingness and ability to learn and use technology skills as the position demands. Communicate effectively with administration, fellow staff members, and the greater parish community. Demonstrate professionalism and appropriate conduct at all times with supervisors, fellow staff members, parents, and students both in the classroom and throughout the campus. Communicate effectively with parents/guardians and families concerning issues or problems that may arise. Conduct conferences with parents twice a year to discuss and review student progress. Be knowledgeable and supportive of the school's mission, philosophy and code of conduct. Reinforce Catholic educational identity throughout the school, parish, and local communities. Serve as a positive role model and supportive adult to children and their families, at all times acting as a witness to the Catholic faith. Participate in in-service classes, workshops, and staff development opportunities to maintain professional licensure and knowledge base. Attend faculty and other parish or school meetings as required. Participate in fundraisers and parish/school events as assigned by the principal. Must be able to attend parish/school related activities outside of regular classroom hours.

Roman Catholic Preferred:
