TrojanPride SALARY and FTE:

Full-time position (185 days) beginning at $45,450 with a Bachelor's degree or $52,015 with a Master's degree. Increase on the WLEA Salary schedule with previous experience.

WHAT WE NEED:

A Special Education Teacher for the Elementary self-contained Resource Room who will provide instruction in academics, social-emotional development, and functional life skills. This teacher will support students with IEPs and work with staff, students, and parents to ensure appropriate programming and an exceptional, personalized education for all students. S/he will encourage independence and a growth mindset for a caseload of students, including children with autism and cognitive impairments.

WHAT YOU NEED

Valid Michigan teacher's certificate with special education endorsement (preference given to candidates with ASD or CI endorsements) Ability to work with a variety of age groups in a self-contained setting using research-based instructional strategies Ability to create and modify curriculum for individual students based on their IEP goals, the Essential Elements, and core content standards from the general education curriculum Ability to create and maintain a daily schedule for students and staff working in the Resource Room. This schedule will be individualized for each student to maximize inclusion opportunities with each grade level. Ability to consult in a general education setting to enhance inclusion experiences and student success Ability to create and implement individual behavior management plans, as well as utilize positive behavior interventions and supports common to the building Ability to use technology for communication, reporting, and student instruction Ability to communicate and collaborate with families of students learning in the Resource Room Ability to lead a team of educators, therapists, and paraprofessionals to support individual student needs with a common goal Ability to administer and interpret results of disability specific assessments Ability to write lesson plans, IEPs, and other related correspondence Ability to direct the activities of others to execute student IEP goals Ability to utilize district technology and work to maintain effective documentation to adhere to all compliance standards set by the district and state Ability to complete other duties as assigned to improve the safety and learning environment for all students A philosophical position that is aligned with the WLPS mission of support in the least restrictive environment.
