Range 8, $21.04 to $32.66/hourly. Beginning salary placement from Step 1 to Step 3 is at the discretion of the Director of Payroll/Personnel based on verification of previous employment. Length of Work Year 180 Employment Type Part Time About the Employer The Southern Humboldt Joint Unified School District crosses two counties, Mendocino and Humboldt, in the heart of the redwoods, extending from remote, mountain areas, to the Eel and Mattole River valleys, to Kings Range and out to the Lost Coast of the Pacific Ocean. The school district encompasses an area of approximately 773 square miles. Employment in Southern Humboldt and Northern Mendocino counties includes tourism, commercial fishing, timber, agriculture, ranching, the school district, the community hospital, and state agencies. The Southern Humboldt Joint Unified School District unified in 1948, combining nineteen separate school districts. Southern Humboldt Joint Unified School District is committed to educational excellence through a comprehensive program that promotes the success of all students by empowering them with the skills and attitudes necessary to be confident and engaged citizens of a changing world. The District is currently comprised of Redway Elementary School (K-6), Whitethorn Elementary School (K-6), Casterlin Elementary School (K-8), Miranda Junior High School (7-8), Casterlin High School (9-12) and South Fork High School (9-12), and an alternative educational program, Osprey Learning Center, which includes a K-12 Independent Study program and a Continuation High School. EDUCATION REQUIREMENT
High school diploma or equivalent and 48 college units or Associate of Arts degree or higher or pass proficiency requirements established by the District.PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

PREFERENCE WILL BE GIVEN TO INSIDE CANDIDATES. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence following prescribed formats.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from students, staff and parents.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals, and integers.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
- Ability to explain and apply basic concepts of algebra.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to understand, adapt, and apply a variety of complex, multi-step written and oral instructions.
- Ability to maintain a professional demeanor under difficult circumstances and performs efficiently in restricted time frames.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Associate of Arts degree or 48 semester or 60 quarter units in instruction at an institution of higher learning or a passing score on the Paraprofessional Proficiency Test.
- Ability to complete CPR and First Aide training
- Valid motor vehicle operator's license
- Knowledge of basic concepts of child development and behavior characteristics
- Knowledge of learning patterns and behavior
- Knowledge of personal hygiene and mental health practices
- Knowledge of conflict resolution
