Job Description

Overview Join the team at LifeCare Ambulance as a full-time or part-time Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and play an essential role in delivering safe, professional, and compassionate Basic Life Support (BLS) care throughout our communities. In this position, you will provide high-quality pre-hospital and interfacility patient care, support timely and safe medical transportation, and help ensure every patient is treated with dignity, respect, and clinical excellence. As a LifeCare EMT, you will respond to transport assignments, assess patient condition, provide BLS interventions within your scope of practice, and communicate effectively with patients, families, partner facilities, and healthcare teams. Duties Respond to assigned calls and transport requests in a safe, timely, and professional manner. Assess and monitor patients by obtaining vital signs, observing clinical condition, and gathering relevant medical history. Provide Basic Life Support (BLS) care and interventions in accordance with Massachusetts protocols, company policies, and EMT scope of practice. Safely transport patients for interfacility transfers, hospital admissions and discharges, dialysis appointments, medical appointments, and other approved transport needs. Operate ambulances and related vehicles in compliance with all traffic laws, safety standards, and company procedures. Document patient condition, treatment, observations, and transport details accurately and thoroughly. Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold patient rights, dignity, and comfort throughout all interactions. Communicate clearly and professionally with dispatch, nurses, case managers, hospital staff, and receiving facilities. Assist with lifting, moving, and transferring patients using proper body mechanics and approved equipment. Maintain a clean, safe, organized, and well-stocked ambulance and work environment. Follow all infection control, safety, operational, and clinical procedures established by LifeCare Ambulance. Exercise sound judgment in fast-paced situations while remaining calm, respectful, and patient-focused. Experience Current EMT certification/license in the state of practice required. Current CPR certification required. High school diploma or GED required. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required. Previous EMT experience in ambulance transport, emergency care, or a related patient care setting preferred. Strong knowledge of patient assessment, vital signs, documentation, and BLS-level care. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, company policies, and clinical protocols. Ability to work effectively in stressful situations while maintaining professionalism and attention to detail. Strong communication and teamwork skills with the ability to interact respectfully with patients, families, and healthcare professionals. Physical ability to bend, lift, pull, push, and move patients and equipment safely, including lifting up to 50 pounds or more with assistance as needed.
