Emergency Room Nurse Manager- Perm- Iowa American Consultants is looking for a permanent ED Nurse Manager for a facility outside of Sioux City IA. The Emergency Room Nurse Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Emergency Department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care, regulatory compliance, and efficient resource management. This leadership role combines clinical expertise with administrative and supervisory duties to lead a team of ER nurses and support staff.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Leadership:

Supervise and coordinate daily activities of the emergency nursing staff. Ensure optimal staffing levels and appropriate nurse-patient ratios. Monitor patient flow and department throughput to reduce wait times and enhance care efficiency.

Clinical Oversight:

Promote evidence-based practice and uphold clinical standards of care. Act as a clinical resource and role model for ER nursing staff. Respond to emergency situations and support complex clinical decision-making.

Staff Management:

Hire, train, mentor, and evaluate nursing and support staff. Schedule shifts, approve time off, and manage call-outs or staff shortages. Conduct performance reviews and manage disciplinary actions when needed.

Quality & Compliance:

Ensure compliance with all hospital policies, state and federal regulations, and accreditation standards (e.g., Joint Commission). Monitor quality metrics such as patient satisfaction, infection control, and adverse event reporting. Lead quality improvement initiatives and emergency preparedness drills.

Budget & Resource Management:

Collaborate with finance and leadership to manage department budgets. Ensure appropriate supply levels and equipment maintenance.

Interdepartmental Collaboration:

Liaise with physicians, hospital leadership, and other departments to coordinate care and support hospital-wide initiatives. Participate in hospital committees and leadership meetings.

Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required. Master's Degree in Nursing or Healthcare Administration preferred.

Licensure:

Current RN license in [State]. BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification required. TNCC preferred.

Experience:

Minimum 3-5 years of clinical experience in emergency nursing. At least 2 years of supervisory or management experience preferred.

Skills & Competencies:

Strong leadership and communication skills. Ability to remain calm and lead effectively in high-stress environments. Knowledge of emergency medicine protocols, triage, and trauma care. Proficiency in EMR systems and hospital operations software.
