Job Description
Apply Description The EMG Nurse (LPN, CMA, RN) provides essential clinical support to physicians and APPs by assisting in patient care, data collection, documentation, and treatment administration. This position is responsible for rooming patients, administering medications, applying durable medical equipment (DME), and assisting in various procedures permitted under the Iowa Board of Nursing LPN licensure. The EMG Nurse (LPN, CMA, RN) plays a key role in maintaining efficient clinic operations and delivering a high-quality patient experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Escort patients to exam rooms; obtain patient history, height, weight, and vital signs. Retrieve and upload imaging (X-rays, CTs, MRIs). Assist physicians/APPs with procedures and prepare patients for injections or treatments. Administer medications via IM, SQ, intradermal, and oral routes as ordered. Assist patients with dressing, mobility, transfers, and activities of daily living. Apply and remove splints, casts, sutures, staples, and bandages; apply bone stimulators as directed. Manage the exchange and return process of DME efficiently. Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments, including follow-up visits. Draw and collect laboratory specimens; complete associated documentation and lab delivery. Prepare equipment for autoclave sterilization. Document clinical interactions in the EMR; complete chart prep by printing and organizing relevant documents. Call patients to collect imaging or test results as necessary prior to appointments. Assist with staff training and onboarding by providing orientation, shadowing opportunities, and constructive feedback. Attend work regularly per attendance policy and assist with other duties as assigned. Maintain confidentiality in accordance with Release of Information and HIPAA guidelines. Requirements Current Iowa Board of Nursing licensure (LPN, RN, CMA). Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Adult & Child Mandatory Reporter certification. Completion of Iowa Ortho's required training and education programs. Strong communication skills with the ability to speak clearly and effectively. Ability to understand verbal instructions and communicate with patients and team members. Capable of independent work and effective teamwork in a clinical setting. Ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure and exercise sound judgment. Ability to provide transportation & travel between clinical sites as needed. Proficient in reading and interpreting clinical documents and physician orders. Skilled in accurate documentation using EMR systems.
