JOB SUMMARY
The
EMT / ER
Technician plays a critical role as a member of the Emergency Medical Services and Emergency Department teams, providing pre-hospital care and safe transportation for individuals experiencing medical emergencies. This position requires rapid response, sound clinical judgment and a commitment to high-quality, compassionate patient care. In addition to direct patient care, the EMT-Basic supports departmental goals related to safety, readiness and continuous improvement. This individual must demonstrate professionalism, adaptability and strong teamwork in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Responsibilities Include:
Providing basic life support and emergency medical care in accordance with established protocols and state guidelines Transporting patients safely and efficiently to appropriate medical facilities Operating emergency vehicles in a safe and responsible manner at all times Performing equipment checks and maintaining ambulance readiness Accurately documenting patient information, interventions and transport activities Assisting with maintaining cleanliness and organization of the ambulance and work areas Participating in departmental training, drills and performance improvement initiatives Demonstrating knowledge of and adherence to safety protocols and infection control standards Collaborating effectively with other EMS personnel, hospital staff and public safety agencies Providing direct patient care under physician supervision in accordance with scope of practice Assisting with the assessment and monitoring of patients' conditions Supporting the implementation of nursing care plans and clinical interventions Observing and documenting patient responses to treatments Assisting with procedures, specimen collection and patient transport as needed Promoting effective communication and teamwork among the care delivery team Ensuring a safe, clean and organized environment within the emergency department Upholding the mission, vision and values of Wallowa County Health Care District in all interactions and care delivery If you're a compassionate and skilled emergency care provider with a dedication to serving your community and delivering high-quality pre-hospital care, we'd love to hear from you! Technician - Job Description
QUALIFICATIONS
Current EMT-B license issued by the State of Oregon required Current BLS/CPR certification required Current BTLS certification or equivalent required or ability to obtain within six months of hire Valid and unrestricted driver's license with an acceptable driving record Demonstrated knowledge of emergency medical care protocols and delivery methods Proficiency in the operation of specialized emergency medical equipment Ability to safely operate emergency medical vehicles under varied conditions Strong communication skills and ability to remain calm and focused in high-stress situations Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and upholding patient rights and safety standards Demonstrated ability to provide compassionate, patient-centered care across diverse populations Ability to meet the physical and functional requirements outlined in the job description High School Diploma or equivalent required Must successfully pass a criminal background check, drug screen and reference checks
