Position Description Advertised Job Summary Responsible for the day-to-day management and operations of the energy distribution steam crew and high voltage shop. Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience Requires a bachelor's degree in a job related field and 5 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience. Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials Driver's license required. Preferred Qualifications High School Diploma and 10 years professional experience in a specialized trades area; or in diversified building or vehicle maintenance, or construction activity. Supervisory experience must be in an energy related field or business. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Thorough knowledge of application and practices for large central steam and chilled water distribution systems, and HVAC mechanical systems. Working knowledge of high voltage systems and equipment, working knowledge of direct digital control (DDC) energy management systems. Must have the ability to write and interpret complex technical plans and reports; to communicate verbally and in writing and communicate effectively with management and other professionals. Demonstrated organizational, planning, and scheduling skills; Problem solving skills; Teambuilding skills and customer service skills. Ability to multitask and manage multiple and complex duties concurrently. Prioritize work activities in alignment with the department's goals. Ability to meet time restrictions; Work within specific resource limitations. Assess training needs of employees with regards to energy best practices. Ability to make fact-based decisions. steam and chilled water distribution, high voltage. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 30 Job Duty Plans and schedules work assignments and project work for the reporting crews. Coordinates crews and contractors in the accomplishment of energy and infrastructure work on the Columbia campus. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 15 Job Duty Monitors and oversee status of the University's energy distribution system, by developing and analyzing complex reports. Identifying inconsistencies in system operations Make recommendations on corrective action(s) to be taken. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 10 Job Duty Manages the development and coordination of utility repair projects including energy conservation, distribution, equipment, and systems through the planning, design, bidding, construction, installation, renovation, and repair phases of capital renewal work. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 10 Job Duty Assists in the development, implementation, and maintenance of operational processes and measures by applying industry standards for products, equipment, and work performance. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 10 Job Duty Develops and manages a strong preventive maintenance program that protects the university's distribution assets, plus develops capital renewal priorities along with budget estimates of cost. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 10 Job Duty Manages compliance with the campus Energy Distribution standards, while ensuring adequate comfort levels in building environments by reviewing policy, reviewing and/or making proposed changes to policy. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 5 Job Duty Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive safety programs for the High Voltage and Steam/Chilled Water Distribution teams, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and university regulations. Responsibilities include conducting risk assessments and job hazard analyses. Leading required safety training (e.g., electrical safety, arc flash, lockout/tagout, confined space, hot work, trenching and excavation); performing field audits and inspections. Investigating incidents and near misses; maintaining safety documentation and reporting metrics; Coordinating corrective actions.
