In this role at Alliant Energy, you'll combine data and software tools with personal observations and conversations to identify where the electric distribution grid needs attention and to prioritize those potential projects. From reliability rebuilds to modernization upgrades to distributed automation, you'll be leading the design work and then staying involved all the way through field construction and operation. You'll collaborate across teams, learn quickly with experienced oversight, and help improve grid reliability and resiliency in ways that you and your neighbors actually see and feel. Join us to help design and build the future grid! What you will do Follows safety rules and practices to identify and correct unsafe conditions for self and team. Strives to identify problems and solutions and makes safety suggestions to assist in maintaining a safe work environment, uses tools and standards to design safety in operating and maintaining equipment. Learns basic customer needs and expectations and strives to identify system problems and solutions within assigned work with guidance. Applies regulatory and organizational engineering standards, processes, and procedures to solve problems limited in scope. Demonstrates basic knowledge of electric utility system operations and maintenance practices with a focus on reliability and resiliency including risk assessment. With guidance from supervisor, learns how to make low-risk decisions that involves direct application of technical knowledge. Learns to communicate and build relationships with employees, business unit stakeholders, and contractors. Learns to discuss technical issues with others from non-technical backgrounds. Learns how the utility business operates with particular emphasis on operations. Learns and offers recommendations which provide technically sound, and the most cost-effective solutions applied to a specific problem. Develops, with guidance, simple solutions to a system problem including simple scopes of work with a cost estimate and sequence. Learns the difference between capital investments and O&M spend. Performs or supports basic engineering design and specification of protective microprocessor relay schemes, devices and settings to ensure protection of distribution and generation systems. Responsible for performing power system studies, system protection settings coordination, and SCADA programming on various projects (up to 345-kV voltage level). May provide technical support and assistance to field personnel during system disturbances or outages. Engages in other duties as needed that support Alliant Energy's Values and helps deliver on our Purpose to serve customers and build stronger communities. Education Requirements Bachelor's Degree Engineering program that is accredited through the Engineering Accreditation Commission Required Preferred Experience Previous technical and/or professional experience An internship or co-op in engineering Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to use computer software programs (e.g., e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, and project management). Pay Range:
$75,000-$85,000 This position is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program. The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position, experience, skill set, internal pay equity and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.
