We specialize in CNC precision machining and aerospace gasket manufacturing, delivering mission-critical components to Tier 1 aerospace and defense customers. We are actively investing in technology, modernization, and growth. The Role We are seeking a hands-on Quality Engineer to own inspection and technical quality across our precision machining and gasket manufacturing operations. This role is focused on building deep technical expertise in inspection planning, measurement, and First Article Inspection (FAI), with responsibility for AS9100 Quality Management System support. You will also mentor one Quality Inspector and have a clear path to Quality Manager as we scale. This is a technical-first role with leadership growth built in. This role reports directly to company leadership and is ideal for someone who loves problem-solving on the shop floor and wants to grow into managing a quality team. What You'll Do Technical Inspection & Measurement (~60% of the role) This is the core of your responsibility. You will own the technical expertise for inspecting flat 2D gaskets and 3D machined parts, working directly on the shop floor to solve real quality problems. Determine how to inspect each part and select appropriate tools and methods based on drawings, GD&T callouts, and customer requirements Inspect machined components and gaskets using CMM (program and operate), MicroVu vision systems, optical comparators, and standard precision hand tools Perform First Article Inspections per AS9102 and prepare FAI reports for customer submission Execute in-process and final inspection per defined quality plans and make real-time disposition decisions on non-conforming material Develop inspection methods and acceptance criteria from engineering drawings and customer specifications Work with engineering and shop floor to troubleshoot measurement challenges and drive process improvements Quality Documentation & Shipping Support (~25% of the role) You will manage the customer-facing documentation and quality records necessary to ship AS9100-compliant parts and support customer QMS requirements. Prepare and submit FAI reports and certification documentation per customer requirements Manage quality records, inspection data, and traceability documentation per AS9100 and ITAR requirements Support supplier incoming inspection and maintain supplier quality records Serve as quality point of contact for customer audits and source inspections Manage the calibration program and ensure all measurement tools are within specification Quality System Support & Leadership (~15% of the role) You will support our AS9100 Quality Management System and mentor our Quality Inspector as you grow into potential Quality Manager responsibilities. Support internal audits, management reviews, and registrar surveillance audits under QMS management direction Participate in CAPA, root cause analysis (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone), and corrective action follow-up Mentor and supervise one Quality Inspector; build accountability and technical capability on the inspection team Identify and recommend process improvements, SPC tools, digital quality workflows, and FAI automation opportunities Report quality KPIs (scrap, rework, on-time FAI, cost of quality) and collaborate with operations and leadership Required 3+ years of quality experience in precision machining, aerospace, or regulated manufacturing 2+ years of hands-on programming and operating CMMs (Open-DMIS, PC-DMIS, or equivalent) or optical/video measurement systems (MicroVu or equivalent) Strong working knowledge of GD&T per

Experience developing and submitting FAI reports per AS9102 Experience with supplier quality activities (incoming inspection, non-conformance tracking, supplier scorecards) Working knowledge of root cause analysis tools (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone) Familiarity with ITAR / export control compliance U.S. Person status as defined by ITAR (required for this role) Strongly Preferred 1-2 years of AS9100 Quality Management System experience or support ASQ certification (CQE, CQA, or CMQ/OE) Familiarity with Tier 1 aerospace supplier quality systems (Honeywell, Raytheon/RTX, General Dynamics, L3Harris, Northrop Grumman, etc.) Experience with digital quality tools and paperless FAI workflows ERP experience (JobBOSS or equivalent) Associate's or Bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing, quality, or related technical field Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Excel (pivot tables, basic data analysis for quality reporting) Strong written and verbal communication skills Growth Path We see this role as the foundation for your advancement. Over 3-4 years, as we scale our quality operations, we expect this position to evolve into Quality Manager responsibilities: leading a growing inspection team, owning broader QMS strategy, and supervising multiple quality functions. This is a hands-on role today that positions you for management tomorrow.
