About Your Role CMTS is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to support aviation, transportation, and public infrastructure capital improvement projects throughout the Washington D.C., Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) Region. This role will provide engineering support related to the planning, design, analysis, coordination, construction, and rehabilitation of structural systems associated with complex infrastructure and facility improvement projects. The Structural Engineer will work closely with project managers, construction managers, architects, consultants, contractors, airport stakeholders, and client representatives to help ensure structural systems are designed and constructed in accordance with project requirements, operational standards, applicable codes, and industry best practices. Projects may include airport terminal improvements, parking structures, bridges, utility infrastructure, transit facilities, building renovations, structural rehabilitation projects, roadway structures, and other public sector capital improvement initiatives. Education Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineeringor Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution required Master's Degree in Structural Engineering preferred or An equivalent combination of education, technical training, and relevant structural engineering experiencewhere permitted by applicable regulations What You'll Need to Get the Job Done 5-12 years of structural engineering experience supporting aviation, transportation, infrastructure, or public sector capital improvement projects Strong knowledge of structural engineering principles, building systems, structural analysis, and design methodologies Experience supporting structural design reviews, construction administration, rehabilitation projects, and field coordination activities Knowledge of applicable structural codes and standards including
IBC, ASCE
7, AISC, ACI, ASTM, and local jurisdictional requirements Experience reviewing construction drawings, technical specifications, structural calculations, submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings Ability to identify design conflicts, constructability concerns, structural deficiencies, and operational impacts while supporting resolution efforts Experience supporting projects within active operational environments preferred Strong analytical, technical, organizational, and problem-solving skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare technical reports, engineering documentation, and project correspondence Ability to coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, consultants, and stakeholders Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint Experience with structural engineering design and analysis software platforms preferred Ability to travel throughout Washington D.C., Maryland, and Virginia project locations as required What Will Make You Stand Out Certifications / Licenses Professional Engineer (PE) licenserequiredor strongly preferred Structural Engineer (SE) licensure preferred Experience supporting aviation or transportation infrastructure projects strongly preferred OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 preferred Software AutoCAD Revit STAAD.Pro
