Direct Connection Propulsion Engineering- Lead Powertrain Calibration Engineer Stellantis United States, Michigan, Auburn Hills Jun 03, 2026 The Technical Manager will lead the development, integration, and validation of propulsion performance upgrades for the Direct Connection product line. This role requires strong technical depth, hands-on testing capability, and the ability to guide a small, fast-moving engineering team. The position works cross-functionally with base vehicle programs, SRT, and suppliers to deliver OEM-grade performance products.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead development and validation of propulsion performance upgrades across calibration, controls, engine hardware, and engine systems
Drive hands-on testing, including in-vehicle development, dyno work, and HIL/virtual validation
Collaborate with base programs, SRT, and suppliers to meet performance, quality, and timing targets
Challenge claims and ensure robust, data-driven decisions
Track program status, risks, and deliverables; support calibration release processes
Lead a small engineering team and promote a silo-breaking, high-accountability culture Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Mathematics or Statistics or related degree field
8 or more years of proven experience in powertrain development, particularly with high performance vehicle systems
Strong background in engine characterization, calibration, and propulsion system development
Proficient in calibration methodologies and software development processes
Hands-on experience with vehicle testing, dyno operation, and validation workflows
Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and engineering judgment
Excellent English communication skill and interpersonal skills demonstrating an ability to lead a team of peers and foster a team-first collaborative mindset within the group Preferred Qualifications:
Masters Degree in Engineering
10 or more years of calibration experience including multiple program development/launch cycles
Broad exposure to cross-functional calibration feature development
Familiarity with Stellantis internal processes and standards including emissions regulatory and certification processes and quality processes
Knowledge of statistics and statistical methods
Experience with Matlab scripting and other useful data processing languages/tool sets (e.g., Python, JavaScript/NodeJS, PowerApps, PowerBI)
"AI Native" approach to work-stream efficiency
Technical Skills
ETAS/INCA, MATLAB, Simulink, Vector tool chains
Dyno systems, HIL/virtual testing platforms
