Quest Defense Systems & Solutions is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Systems Engineer to support the full lifecycle development of complex aerospace and defense systems, with a focus on the Health Awareness System Subsystem for a next-generation aircraft program. This role centers on requirements authoring, decomposition, traceability, and verification readiness within a structured systems engineering environment aligned to the V-Model lifecycle. The selected candidate will work to develop clear, testable system and subsystem requirements and ensure they are properly linked to verification strategies through development and maintenance of the Requirements Verification Traceability Matrix (RVTM). This individual will play a key role on the front end of the V-model while also supporting downstream verification activities, test documentation, and overall system maturity as the program progresses. The role also supports Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) activities and contributes to system architecture alignment, technical reviews, and lifecycle milestones. Experience supporting avionics, mission systems, health monitoring architectures, or other safety-critical aerospace platforms is highly desirable. Due to the nature of the project, all applicants must be U.S. citizens or US lawful permanent residents. This role is highly desired to be onsite in Fort Worth, TX, though remote candidates may be considered.

Key Responsibilities:
Developing, analyzing, decomposing, and managing system and subsystem requirements in collaboration with customers, stakeholders, and engineering teams Ensuring requirements are clear, testable, traceable, and compliant with program and industry standards Maintaining requirements baselines using tools such as DOORS, Jama, Polarion, or equivalent platforms Supporting requirements reviews including SRR, PDR, and CDR and assisting with closure of gaps and discrepancies Developing and maintaining the Requirements Verification Traceability Matrix (RVTM) linking requirements to verification methods (Test, Analysis, Inspection, Demonstration) Coordinating with integration, test, software, hardware, and architecture teams to ensure verification readiness Supporting development and maintenance of Interface Requirements Documents (IRDs) and Interface Control Documents (ICDs) Participating in lifecycle technical reviews and ensuring requirements maturity aligns with design progression Contributing to Systems Engineering Management Plans (SEMP), schedules, and technical documentation packages Supporting verification readiness activities including Verification Readiness Reviews (VRRs) and qualification planning Performing requirements quality assessments to ensure clarity, completeness, consistency, and feasibility Contributing to risk identification activities including hazard analysis and participation in FMEA efforts Supporting Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) activities using SysML within Cameo Systems Modeler Coordinating requirements alignment between architecture models and external requirements repositories Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure architecture, interfaces, and verification strategies remain synchronizedRequired Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in systems engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline 5+ years of experience supporting requirements development and management within aerospace, defense, or complex engineering programs Demonstrated experience authoring, reviewing, and managing system or subsystem requirements Experience developing and maintaining Requirements Verification Traceability Matrices (RVTM) or equivalent artifacts Familiarity with verification methodologies including Test, Analysis, Inspection, and Demonstration (TAID) Working knowledge of requirements management tools such as IBM DOORS, Jama, Polarion, or equivalent Understanding of the V-Model systems engineering lifecycle Familiarity with systems engineering standards such asISO/IEC 15288, IEEE
29148, EIA-632, orMIL-STD-499
Strong technical writing, communication, and cross-functional coordination skillsPreferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in systems engineering or related discipline INCOSE ASEP or CSEP certification Experience supporting Health Awareness Subsystem (HAS), PHM, or FDIR architectures Hands-on experience using Cameo Systems Modeler in an MBSE environment Experience developing SysML artifacts including Requirements Diagrams, BDDs, IBDs, Activity Diagrams, and Sequence Diagrams Familiarity with DO-178C, DO-254, MIL-STD-882, or AS9100 processes and compliance environments Experience supporting verification planning, qualification testing, DT&E/OT&E, or TEMP development Experience working in hybrid Agile / traditional systems engineering execution environments Active DoD security clearance (Secret or higher) or ability to obtain oneThe QDSS Advantage:
