We are seeking an emerging Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) Engineer who will join a highly skilled team of systems engineering technologists and algorithm developers supporting various contracts and IRADs within Missiles and Fire Control. The GNC Aerodynamics Engineer tasks include: Design, integrate, and test of aerodynamic model for missile and fire control products Develop, verify, and validate both complex models and simulations such as missile 6-degree-of-freedom simulations (6-DOF) and effects-based simulations Evaluate system performance in complex scenarios and environments and verify system and subsystem level requirements Perform critical studies, analyses, and test activities Support ground and flight test efforts including Hardware-In-The-Loop (HWIL) activities Support program reviews and technical interchange meetings with internal leadership and/or external customers
Basic Qualifications:
Candidate must have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, physics, computer engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, applied mathematics, or similar Candidate must have demonstrated the ability to perform one or more of the following Guidance, Navigation and Control (GNC) or Modeling and Simulation (M&S) assignments based on completed course work or professional experience: o Develop and/or verify/validate aerodynamic models or experimental aerodynamics data, wind tunnel data analysis o Develop and/or verify/validate complex vehicle models and simulations such as missile 6- degree-of-freedom simulations o Demonstrate experience in one or more of the following languages: C++, Matlab, Python o Demonstrate strong math skills in the areas of linear algebra, matrix math, statistics, trigonometry, and coordinate transformations o Must be a US Citizen; this position will require a government security clearance. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.
Desired Skills:
Prefer candidates with master's degree in related discipline Experience developing and analyzing algorithms related to signal/image processing Proficiency with Linux Ability to perform preflight system performance assessment and post flight verification analyses • Experience designing and analyzing target tracking and terrestrial navigation systems Experience with optimal state estimation filters such as extended Kalman filters (EKF) Demonstrated skills in probability, statistics, and Design of Experiments (DOE) Experience with Model-based systems engineering (MBSE) Experience deploying algorithms that satisfy real-time performance requirements

Work Schedules:
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees.
