Job Description

Position Summary:
Aircraft Systems Engineering opportunity in rapidly growing aircraft integration company. Activities include the design, fabrication, installation and test of avionics and mission systems on Department of Defense (DoD) and FAA certificated aircraft. The Aircraft Systems Engineer will be responsible for new system designs through all phases of the integration effort, including requirements management, research, analysis, system architecture, design reviews, system documentation, test and integration, airworthiness certifications, and production. This position has ample growth potential for advancement into program management or other leadership positions.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Ability to interface with customers and other stakeholders to understand, generate, and derive technical requirements from user needs statements
  • Serve as a deputy program manager or technical program manager on multiple simultaneous efforts
  • Managing and tracing requirements from generation through validation and verification activities
  • Developing systems architectures to meet user needs and provide hardware, cyber, and software engineers with functional and physical requirements for system design
  • Developing air worthiness plans and documentation
  • Developing systems engineering artifacts as required by DoD acquisitions policies
  • Experience with military aircraft system integration and DoD contract projects
  • Experience developing electrical loads analysis, weight and balance reports, system operational testing, environmental testing, and EMI/EMC testing IAW Air Force standards
  • Experience with FAA airworthiness testing and certification
  • Familiarity with common aircraft bus interfaces such as ARINC 429, MIL-STD-1553, serial, Ethernet, GPS, and audio
  • Experience with integrating video and RF systems onto airborne platforms
  • Familiarity with common DoD datalinks and networks such as ARC-210, ARC-231, PRC-117, SADL/EPLRS, LINK-16, VORTEX, HPW, SWF, ANW2 or
INMARSAT
  • Experience in DoDAF project management
  • Prepare products required for formal design reviews and presentations.
  • Lead a team of engineers and manage system development projects
  • Perform inspection, auditing, and certification oversight
  • Work is typically performed in an office environment but will require some on-aircraft work
  • Work requires short-term
CONUS & OCONUS
TDYs to meet with users and/or perform aircraft tests.
Required Qualifications:
  • A BS degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline from an ABET accredited university.
  • The Aircraft System Engineer must have 5-7 years of related experience desired in preparing systems engineering models and design products
  • Proven experience with analysis, design, testing, and documentation, as well as system development and aircraft integration
  • Ability to document requirements, specifications and other technical documents
  • Basic understanding of software design principles and agile development processes
  • Proficiency with MS Office products including Microsoft Visio, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to work autonomously, either independently or with a group to accomplish specified tasks
  • Current U.S. Citizenship required (due to government contracting requirements)
  • Current DoD Secret clearance required (due to government contracting requirements)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with systems engineering tools such as Cameo NoMagic is desired.

  • Competitive annual salary, negotiable based on qualifications and experience
  • Annual performance-based bonus available
Pay:
$125,000.00 - $145,000.00 per year
