Job Description

You will serve as a Student Intern (Engineering) at the GG-07 grade level receiving on-the-job training pertaining to engineering work processes, procedures, and reference material.
Qualifications:
ELIGIBILITY
Must be enrolled or have been accepted for enrollment in a bachelor's degree (or more advanced degree) program in Engineering from an accredited or pre-accredited institution. (To be acceptable, the curriculum must: (1) be in a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineering curriculum; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.) To be eligible for the GG-07, you must meet the following required education level: Completion of 4 academic years of post-high school leading to a bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited or pre-accredited institution. All educational requirements for this position must be met by June 30, 2027.
Program Completion and Conversion:
Interns may be converted at the discretion of the agency to a permanent position (or, in some limited circumstances, to a term position lasting 1-5 years) within 120 days of successful completion of the program. To be eligible for conversion, Interns must: Be a U.S. Citizen Complete at least 160-320 hours of work experience acquired through the Student Internship Program Complete their degree requirements Meet the qualification standards for the position to which the Intern will be converted Perform their job successfully
NOTE:
Students who convert to a permanent position may be eligible for a Recruitment/Relocation or Student Loan Repayment Incentive as the discretion of the agency.
