Job Description

Bioinformatics Pipeline Test Engineer ( | 6 Months - 1 Year Exp) San Diego, Hybrid. We are looking to hire a candidate with the skills sets mentioned and experience for one of our clients within the life science Industry.
Note :
Students or entry level candidates in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or Computer Science are eligible to apply.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a (6 months - 1 year experience) with a academic or internship experience in Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) pipelines and bioinformatics workflows. The ideal candidate should have exposure to Illumina sequencing data, secondary analysis pipelines and workflow tools like Nextflow. This role focuses on software testing, verification, and validation (V&V) of bioinformatics pipelines used in medical devices and LDT products within a regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in developing and executing test protocols for bioinformatics software and pipelines. Translate user and software requirements into test cases and validation scenarios. Collaborate with bioinformatics scientists to define test strategies, inputs, and methodologies. Perform functional testing to validate pipeline accuracy, performance, and reliability. Generate and maintain test reports and validation documentation. Support design control activities and software lifecycle documentation. Contribute to documents such as SRS, design specifications, and test plans. Assist in risk assessments and traceability of requirements. Ensure compliance with regulatory and quality standards. Follow Quality Management System (QMS) processes and best practices.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor s degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or related field. 6 months to 1 year of experience (internships, academic projects, or industry exposure). Exposure to NGS pipelines and/or PCR-based workflows. Basic understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and testing concepts. Familiarity with Git, Agile, or CI/CD fundamentals. Awareness of regulated environments (FDA, Medical Devices, Pharma/Biotech). Basic programming skills in Python. Experience working with Illumina sequencing data / secondary analysis pipelines is a plus Familiarity with Nextflow or similar workflow management tools. Exposure to cloud platforms - AWS HealthOmics is a plus. Understanding of Docker, Kubernetes, or containerization concepts. Basic knowledge of standards like 21 CFR Part 11, IEC 62304, ISO 13485, ISO 14971 is a plus.
