Biomedical Equipment Engineer I VA - Charlottesville - charlottesville, VA 22908 Apply Overview Position Type Full Time Travel Percentage Road Warrior Apply Description What you'll be up to:
  • Perform and document preventive maintenance and repair of general, specialized and/or high-tech medical equipment and systems.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge and use of required test equipment and electronics, including pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical knowledge and skills.
  • Interpret and effectively utilize service manuals, schematics and other applicable service information required to perform and document preventive maintenance and repair of medical equipment and systems, as assigned, in accordance with established SOPs (standard operating procedures).
  • May occasionally work on non-medical devices such as Rapiscan, Gatekeeper, Evolv. Higi, etc.
  • Independently perform complex troubleshooting and repairs on designated modality, while working within the established procedures.

  • Demonstrate proper methods and techniques of installation, calibration, preventative maintenance and repair troubleshooting.
  • Read and comprehend prints and schematics; repair and calibrate according to company procedures and specifications.
  • Effectively triage work orders and establish priority to meet contractual commitments
  • Maintain spare part stock independently.
  • Operate PC hardware and Microsoft based software.
  • Interact and communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Instruct customers and staff in applications and operations of the equipment.
  • Submit timely and accurately; service reports, time sheets, expense reports, and other paperwork as assigned.
  • Maintain the daily back-order report, cycle count and shipping needs of the facility. Other projects as assigned.
  • Ability to be a self-starter and manage your own work to meet the needs of our customers
  • Flexible for occasional nationwide overnight and weekend travel.
  • Additional relevant responsibilities as issued by manager. Qualifications What we are looking for in experience, education and personal characteristics:
  • Associates degree in Electronics or completion of DoD Biomedical Equipment Repair School or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in the repair and maintenance of medical equipment.
  • Valid driver's license in good standing and reliable vehicle.
  • Excellent internal and external customer relations and interpersonal skills. Must be able to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with customers and co-workers at all levels within the company.
  • Experience in exercising expert judgement in complex repair, maintenance and calibration of scientific equipment.
  • Advanced knowledge of technical aspects of electronic equipment and its operation, repair, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of the application of software and how it interfaces with equipment
  • Knowledge of current regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledge of basic anatomy and physiology as applied to use of biomedical equipment.
  • Knowledge of color code conventions used in component and wiring marking.
  • Ability to analyze, repair, and test electronic equipment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Periods of sitting at a computer terminal documenting service
  • Extensive periods of standing and walking while performing services.
  • Frequent bending, squatting, stair climbing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Use of both hands without restriction and manipulate small hand tools.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
