This role is responsible for producing production-ready artwork, managing textile developments, and staying current with market trends to enhance brand and customer offerings. The role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work closely with both internal teams and external vendors.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Create original textile patterns such as yarn dyes, jacquards, and embroidery designs based on Design Team's direction and trend research. Develop and manage CAD work, ensuring all artwork is technically ready for production. Maintain accurate records of all textile designs and developments, including managing the CAD, print, and color libraries. Stay current with market trends in textiles, helping the Design Team apply relevant trends to suit customer needs and preferences. Assist in preparing supplemental fabric packages, including labeling, swatching, and collating for customer presentations. Act as a resource for the Design Team, providing technical expertise and insights on print execution and textile development. Adapt designs to various fabric types, ensuring pattern scale, repeat, and layout are optimized for production. Conduct trend research to stay up to date with textile design innovations and pattern trends. Assist in the maintenance and organization of pattern libraries and digital files. Ensure designs are created within brand guidelines and follow technical requirements for fabric manufacturing. Participate in design meetings, providing input and suggestions for textile development projects. Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong understanding of textile design fundamentals, including color theory, pattern repeat, and fabric construction. Familiarity with market trends in textiles and ability to apply them to brand and customer needs. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe products, specifically Illustrator and Photoshop; experience with NedGraphics is a plus. Strong technical expertise in print design, color matching, and creating production-ready colorways. Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, while meeting deadlines. Ability to create a variety of print styles, from painterly to graphic, aligning with brand aesthetics. Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration. Strong attention to detail, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and executing designs to production standards. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a willingness to assist on large projects when needed. Bachelor's Degree in Textile Design, Fashion Design, Graphic Design, or a related field (BFA in Fashion or Textile Design preferred). 1-2 years of experience in textile design, including technical expertise in prints, color matching, and colorway creation Preferred Proficiency in CAD software (Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or similar tools) Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
