Job Description

Description:
A Telecommunications Engineering Fielder/CAD Drafter position will work to support our company's ongoing telecommunication projects. With the utilization of AutoCAD to create both underground and aerial construction drawings. This position will be responsible for producing detailed drawings, site plans, schematics, and fiber routes for telecom networks. Ensuring designs meet standards, while working with field engineers to gather accurate field data, verifying existing utilities, and translating site conditions for drafting, working with engineering and construction teams to build accurate, compliant telecom infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
Design Creation :
Produce detailed telecom drawings utilizing AutoCAD. Research and communication between local municipalities, cities, and states' recorded documents to acquire utility information, assessor maps, OSP records, etc. Ability to research and navigate multiple online databases. Revising drawings based on updated field and design information sent back from the customer or cities. Coordinate with OSP Field Engineers for necessary field data collection to support various projects. Translating field survey data to develop the necessary drawings.
Software Proficiency:
Utilize AutoCAD, GIS, and other tools for design and mapping. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Smartsheet experience is a plus or other project/permit tracking software.
Field Data Translation:
May be required to visit job sites to gather data, measure clearances, and verify existing conditions. Assist in collecting information regarding utility pole identification, inspection, and measure existing attachments, collect photos for pole load analysis. Experience with locating and identifying existing underground structures in the field. Interpret documentation and properly describe telecom structures, public right-of-way, utility/private easements, existing utilities (water, sewer, gas, etc.), and other aerial and underground utilities. Ability to convert field notes and rough sketches into precise CAD drawings.
Municipality & Utility Coordination :
Work with various municipalities and utilities groups to ensure project goals in compliance with municipal and utility guidelines. Identify and record existing utilities (water, sewer, electric) and public right-of-way.
Documentation :
Prepare construction documents, permit drawings, and as-built records.
Collaboration :
Work with internal and external engineering and construction teams to refine designs. Communication with supervisor to communicate statuses of current projects by utilizing the company trackers and software.
Standards & Compliance :
Ensure drawings meet telecom standards, industry regulations, and local municipality rules.
Construction Support :
Assist with construction/maintenance teams, ensuring designs align with site reality.
Safety & Standards :
Apply knowledge of OSP (Outside Plant) construction standards and safety guidelines. Key Skills & Collaboration Proficient in AutoCAD. Ability to research and navigate multiple online databases. Understanding of telecom systems, OSP design (aerial, underground), and cable types. Ability to interpret utility and telecommunications data with a high degree of accuracy and completeness. Attention to detail is crucial for accuracy in drawings and field verification. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Team player which is essential for seamless project flow. Ability to work independently and achieve goals set by supervisors
