These cases protect and transport high-value AV equipment under demanding conditions. We are looking for a high-level SolidWorks user with a strong background in manufacturing and product design—someone who doesn't just model parts, but understands how things are built, assembled, and improved. This role requires a mechanically inclined, detail-oriented problem solver who can look at an assembly and immediately understand: How it functions Where it might fail How to improve it What tolerances and hardware are appropriate How to execute changes quickly and efficiently in SolidWorks Every project is custom, so success in this role depends on critical thinking, adaptability, and deep practical experience—not just software proficiency. Key Responsibilities Research, analyze, and accurately model customer equipment for case integration Design fully customized, manufacturable road case solutions based on client requirements Create robust 3D models and assemblies in SolidWorks with a focus on real-world manufacturability Produce detailed 2D technical drawings with appropriate tolerances, fits, and callouts Select and apply correct hardware and fastening methods based on load, material, and use case Identify design improvements for durability, usability, and production efficiency Reverse engineer parts and assemblies when required Generate manufacturing-ready files (DWG, DXF, STEP, etc.) Maintain clean, organized file structures and revision control across all design assets Collaborate closely with production to optimize builds, reduce errors, and improve throughput Work with vendors/suppliers to source components and validate design feasibility Manage multiple projects simultaneously with strong time and priority management What We're Looking For This is not an entry-level or purely CAD-focused role.
We want someone who:
Has real-world manufacturing experience and understands how designs translate to the shop floor Can look at an assembly and immediately understand how it works—and how to improve it Knows when to prioritize speed vs. precision in SolidWorks Is confident choosing: Proper tolerances and fits Correct hardware for each application Efficient modeling strategies and tools Is fast, accurate, and intentional in CAD work Thinks like a builder, not just a designer Required Qualifications 5+ years of advanced SolidWorks experience (assemblies, configurations, drawings, workflows) 3+ years of hands-on manufacturing or fabrication experience Strong understanding of: Mechanical assemblies and real-world fitment Tolerancing and design for manufacturing (DFM) Fasteners, hardware selection, and application Proven ability to create production-ready drawings and documentation Experience managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills Excellent communication and collaboration skills Preferred Qualifications Background in product design or mechanical engineering Experience with custom fabrication environments (wood, CNC routing, metal, finishing) Familiarity with process optimization and continuous improvement Vendor/supplier coordination experience Project management experience
Pay:
$90,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
