Job Description Position Title:
CAD Technician / Designer This role will be a temporary-to-permanent type of role - 5 months to perm. Position Summary We are seeking a skilled CAD Technician / Designer with sheet metal design experience to support sheet metal manufacturing operations at our Southside Jacksonville location. This position is responsible for creating sheet metal parts and assembly designs, preparing detailed shop drawings with dimensions, and supporting production through accurate and efficient drafting practices. The ideal candidate will have experience using Solid Edge and/or
ON-SHAPE
software and possess strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Create detailed sheet metal part and assembly designs. Prepare accurate shop drawings with dimensions and specifications for production use. Utilize Solid Edge and/or
ON-SHAPE
software to develop and modify CAD drawings and assemblies. Collaborate with engineering, production, and management teams regarding design modifications and manufacturing feasibility. Revise and update drawings as needed to support production and customer requirements. Maintain organized electronic drawing files and documentation. Ensure designs comply with company quality standards and manufacturing capabilities. Follow company safety procedures and workplace policies. Work overtime as required to meet production and business demands. Qualifications Education and Experience Minimum of two (2) years of CAD design experience required. Previous sheet metal design experience required. Experience using Solid Edge and/or
ON-SHAPE
software required. Associate degree or technical certification in drafting, design, engineering technology, or related field preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication and manufacturing processes. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications. Strong computer and drafting skills. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities. Work Schedule Full-time position Monday through Friday Work hours: 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Overtime is mandatory as needed to meet production requirements.
Compensation Hourly pay range:
$20.00 - $23.00 per hour Compensation based on experience and qualifications Physical Requirements Ability to sit, stand, and work at a computer workstation for extended periods. Occasional walking through manufacturing areas. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally. Work Environment This position operates in both office and manufacturing environments and may involve exposure to moderate noise levels and active production areas.
